About the Artist, Bakari

Bakari started his professional Art career as a tattoo artist in 2008. His passion and determination is to support up & coming artists in the Art Industry. He does this by creating outlets to showcase their art, providing print reproduction, marketing tools and consulting them in the business of Art.

Bakari grew up in a single parent home, in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas, Texas. During his many struggles as a child, he found art to be a therapeutic escape from the world around him. As his passion for art grew, so did his desire to assist others that may have come from similar backgrounds. As a result, the Masterpiece Preparatory School of Fine Arts (Masterpiece Prep for short) was born. At Masterpiece Prep, Bakari will use a combination of mentoring, on the job training, and classes to develop youth along their journey.

Bakari is a loving husband and father. He enjoys volunteering with little league football and mentoring young men. While helping others, he continues to create masterpieces under the brand, Bakari Originals. His art has an ethnic flare, that comments on social settings or political issues. His goal is to encourage or bring a change in behavior within the Black Community through his art. With a unique eye, he also does photography to capture the beauty in every day life. He uses a variety of media, ranging from charcoal and graphite, to oil and acrylic paint, and everything in between. His desire is to influence as many people as possible through his art, therefore, he sells a wide range of artwork from original pieces to prints, calendars and greeting cards.
